Klein Goederust is proudly and authentically South African. It stands as the first and only 100% black-owned wine farm in the Franschhoek Valley. Klein Goederust's narrative is one of unyielding dedication and unwavering determination, a testament to forging opportunities and resilience against all odds. It is, therefore, a story of hope and the "new South African" dream.

In 2019, entrepreneur Mr. Paul Siguqa, the son of a former Cape Winelands farm worker, Nomaroma Siguqa, acquired Klein Goederust, a 10-hectare farm nestled in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley. This historic acquisition marked a significant milestone, making Klein Goederust the first 100% black-owned wine farm in the Franschhoek Valley. To honor both his cultural heritage and the farm's rich history, Paul chose to retain the farm's original name, which dates back to its establishment in 1905. Additionally, he incorporated his IsiXhosa identity into the name by adding the Southern Ground Hornbill, the clan/family crest totem of Paul Siguqa, to the logo. He undertook a meticulous restoration of the original farm building, preserving its historical charm while introducing modern, minimalist decorative elements.

The centerpiece of Klein Goederust is the historic cellar, built in 1905, which now houses a diverse range of wines, including the flagship Nomaroma MCC, named in honor of Nomaroma Siguqa, Paul Siguqa's mother and the family matriarch. This wine selection pays homage to the authenticity and deep-rooted history of the brand.

The 117-year-old wine-tasting room holds significant historical value. Within the old historic cellar, the remnants of the "dop system" are cemented, a poignant reminder of the mistreatment endured by their ancestors who toiled on these lands. Klein Goederust is dedicated to acknowledging this painful history and is committed to restoring dignity, rebuilding the community, and healing the cultural wounds that persist in Southern Africa.

Klein Goederust's mission is to inspire, educate, discover opportunities, foster possibilities, and empower individuals. Their rich history and warm hospitality serve as stepping stones toward a brighter future.

The on-site restaurant offers a buffet-style experience featuring authentic South African cuisine. The menu includes spit-roasted lamb, traditional South African staples like curried and pickled fish, freshly baked farmhouse bread, potjiekos, roosterkoek straight off the braai, and malva pudding, creating an upscale yet unpretentious dining experience.

Upon your arrival with Cape Town Helicopters, a plethora of activities awaits, ranging from wine tasting to indulging in a delightful meal at the restaurant.

Important Information

Check In Time

Please check in 30 minutes before your scheduled takeoff time. This allows us to complete weight checks, conduct the safety briefing, and issue your tickets. Once checked in, you can relax in our waiting area, capture some great pre-flight photos, and soak in the atmosphere before your adventure begins.

Photography Tip

For the best photos, we recommend wearing darker-colored clothing. Light colours, especially white, can reflect off the windows and affect your shots—so dress dark for that perfect picture! We do not have an on-site photographer.

Seating Allocation

For all sharing flights, seating is assigned based on weight and balance, which is determined during your safety briefing and ticketing. If you prefer to choose your own seats, you may book an Exclusive Flight by purchasing one additional seat—guaranteeing you the best seats in the house.

Weather

All flights are weather-dependent. If conditions are not suitable for flying, we will make every effort to reschedule your flight to the next best available time. For your comfort, please note that the temperature in the sky is the same as on the ground, so dress accordingly.
