Each year, between November and January, an extraordinary adventure unfolds as White Desert opens the door to one of the most remote and pristine destinations on Earth - Antarctica.
Operating from Cape Town, South Africa, White Desert’s flights transport guests across the vast Southern Ocean to the Antarctica. These expeditions are made possible by their state-of-the-art aircraft, including two ski-equipped Basler BT67s and ski-equipped Twin Otter based on Continent and an Airbus A340-300 aircraft capable of flying directly from Cape Town to Antarctica return. The flight, which takes approximately five hours, offers breath-taking views of icebergs and endless stretches of ocean before arriving at the icy runway carved out of glacial blue ice.
The 12 week season spanning November to early February is carefully chosen to coincide with Antarctica’s summer, a time when the continent is bathed in perpetual daylight. This window offers optimal conditions for exploration, with milder temperatures and a thriving display of wildlife.
