Gabriëlskloof is the realisation of a dream for South African Bernhard Heyns, who searched for several years to find the unique piece of land that would 'root him to the spot'. Local farmer Barry Anderson had heard about Bernhard’s mission and arranged to meet him on a windy summer’s day in 2001 at a farm called "Avontuur" on the outskirts of Botrivier. Both immediately recognised the potential of this piece of land (at the time covered with wheat and canola, and home to a few wandering sheep) and soon after, Bernhard bought what is today Gabriëlskloof. “Would highly recommend doing this, weather permtting, and if funds allow. We did the two oceans flight, this is the most popular, you get 30 mins of flight time, and basically do a big circuit of the whole city, covering both sides, and flying behind table mountain. You also get a complimentary hop on, hop off, red bus tour ticket. ”

“We did the helicopter ride of the entire Cape Peninsula - was breathtaking - at times literally. There was a bit of turbulence which made the ride a times at bit nerve wrecking for some of us but we were never in any danger.”
